About
the Artist
When you wear my jewelry, I want you to feel confident, empowered, and beautifully authentic.
I'm Julie
Freeman-Mullins.
I'm the artist and jewelry designer behind Anam Cara Clay Goods. What began as a curiosity about polymer clay has grown into a passion for creating bold, vibrant, and meaningful jewelry. For me, it's not just about making something beautiful — it's about crafting wearable art that helps others feel confident, empowered, and beautifully authentic.
Each piece I design blends color, texture, and storytelling. I love experimenting with shape and technique to create jewelry that's expressive, lightweight, and made to last. Every detail matters — because how it makes you feel is just as important as how it looks.
My work is rooted in connection: to creativity, to material, and to the people who wear my designs. Polymer clay is my medium, but my mission is simple — to help you show up in the world as your most vibrant, authentic self.
Every chapter,
led to right here.
My path to polymer clay wasn't a straight line — it was 18 years of cooking, a childhood full of paintbrushes, and a lot of creative wandering that finally led me here.
Background
Creativity has always been in my bones. I come from a family of artists, and from an early age my world was filled with paintbrushes, sketchpads, and the freedom to explore whatever sparked my imagination. I spent countless hours drawing, crafting, making jewelry, and exploring the performing arts through dance and theater. Later, I spent 18 years in the culinary world — another creative outlet where expression came through flavor, presentation, and experience. Looking back, every chapter was laying the groundwork for a lifelong love of artistic exploration.
Artistic Style
When I first discovered polymer clay, I had no idea how deeply it would shape my artistic voice. What began as playful experimentation grew into a lasting love for its endless possibilities. Over time, I've developed a style rooted in intricate patterns, bold color, and a joyful exploration of shape and form.
How I make it.
Polymer clay found me in 2020 and honestly, I haven't put it down since. Here's a little peek into how I actually work.

Polymer clay is my primary medium, and I'm endlessly inspired by its versatility. Over time, I've begun incorporating acrylics, pastels, mica powders, gold leaf, resin, and alcohol inks — allowing each design to come to life in unexpected ways.
What drives me.
Inspiration is everywhere and philosophy sounds fancy — but for me it just means making things that are honest, colorful, and real.
Inspiration
Inspiration
Inspiration finds me everywhere — from the vibrant colors of a mountain sunset to the bold, playful pattern of a sundress in a boutique window. I've learned to stay open to the beauty of everyday life, because it's often the simplest moments that spark the brightest ideas.
Philosophy
Philosophy
For me, polymer clay jewelry is more than a craft — it's a form of soul expression. Each piece carries a part of my heart, shaped by memory, emotion, and the stories I'm learning to tell through color, texture, and form. It's my way of sharing something honest and real with the world, one pair of earrings at a time.
The Story Behind
Anam Cara Clay
I found love when I least expected it, with my best friend of 10 years. One day, we both asked, "What if there's something more?" Now, Josh is my husband, my biggest cheerleader, and most importantly, my Anam Cara — a soul friend whose love and loyalty remind me every day that true connection is real.
When it came time to name my jewelry business, Anam Cara felt like destiny — just like us. In this little corner of creativity and curiosity, I make polymer clay jewelry to share with the world, hoping everyone can find their own Anam Cara and cherish them always.
