Hello!
I’m Julie Freeman-Mullins, the artist and jewelry designer behind Anam Cara Clay Goods. What started as a simple curiosity about polymer clay has grown into a passionate pursuit of crafting bold, vibrant, and meaningful jewelry. For me, it’s not just about making something beautiful—it’s about creating wearable art that makes others feel confident, empowered, and beautifully authentic.
Each piece I design is a blend of color, texture, and storytelling. I love experimenting with shapes, patterns, and techniques to create jewelry that’s expressive, lightweight, and built to last. Every detail matters—because I want you to not only love how it looks, but how it makes you feel when you wear it.
My work is rooted in connection: to creativity, to the materials I use, and to the people who wear my designs. Polymer clay is my medium, but my true mission is to help you show up in the world as your most vibrant, authentic self.

Creativity has always been in my bones. I come from a family of artists, so from a young age, my world was filled with paintbrushes, sketchpads, craft supplies, and the freedom to explore whatever sparked my imagination. I spent countless hours drawing, painting, crafting, making jewelry, and even diving into the performing arts through dance and theater. Later, I spent 18 years in the culinary world—another form of creativity that allowed me to express myself through flavor, presentation, and experience. Looking back, all of it was laying the foundation for what would become a lifelong love affair with artistic adventure.

My fascination with polymer clay began in 2020 when I stumbled across a tutorial on Pinterest. It was one of those unexpected moments that somehow changes everything. For over a decade, I had been searching for the right idea—a creative outlet that could grow into a small handmade business. When I discovered polymer clay, something clicked.
I became completely captivated by its versatility, its color possibilities, and the way it allowed me to blend art, design, and storytelling. For the next two years, I dove in headfirst—learning techniques, experimenting with styles, and refining my skills. It became more than a hobby; it became a passion I couldn’t ignore.
In the spring of 2021, I decided to take the leap and bring Anam Cara Clay Goods to life. It was the start of something deeply personal—a way to share my love for color, creativity, and connection through handcrafted jewelry made to empower others and celebrate their beautifully authentic selves.

When I first discovered polymer clay, I had no idea how much it would change the way I express myself as an artist. What began as playful experimentation quickly became a deep love for the endless possibilities this material offers. Over time, I’ve developed a design style that’s all about intricate patterns, bold and vibrant color palettes, and a playful exploration of shape and form.
Each piece I create is a tiny story—sometimes joyful, sometimes curious, always rooted in creativity and craftsmanship. I pour a lot of heart into the details, working to make sure every design feels intentional, expressive, and alive with personality.
From bold statement dangles to everyday studs, from eye-catching drop earrings to fun necklaces, bracelets, and accessories—I aim to create pieces that are one-of-a-kind, surprisingly lightweight, and durable enough to keep up with your day. But more than anything, I want them to be fun to wear.
My hope is that when you put on a piece of my jewelry, you feel just a little more confident, a little more playful, and beautifully, unapologetically yourself.

While polymer clay is my primary medium, I’ve always been drawn to the endless possibilities it offers. Its versatility allows me to explore and experiment—layering textures, blending colors, and playing with form until each piece feels just right. Over time, I’ve started incorporating other materials into my work—acrylics, pastels, mica powders, gold leaf, resin, and alcohol inks—all of which help bring my creative visions to life in unexpected ways.
There’s something deeply satisfying about the way polymer clay responds to my hands. It’s malleable, yet precise. It gives me the freedom to build, carve, stamp, and layer with intention. My background in color and design influences every choice I make—from subtle gradients to bold, joyful contrasts.
To elevate the detail and richness of each piece, I often add complementary elements like glass beads, gemstones, and gold or brass accents. These finishing touches give the work added depth and dimension—turning each item into more than jewelry. They become small, wearable works of art designed to inspire confidence, spark joy, and celebrate the beauty of individuality.

Inspiration finds me everywhere. Sometimes it’s in the vibrant colors splashed across a mountain landscape at sunset, other times in the bold, funky pattern of a sundress hanging in a boutique window. I’ve learned to keep my eyes open to the beauty in everyday life—because it’s often the little, ordinary things that spark the brightest ideas.
My creativity is shaped by a mix of moments, memories, and moods, and that’s what makes each jewelry collection feel so personal. Every piece I design carries a bit of what I’ve seen, felt, or imagined—turning those bits of inspiration into something tangible, something wearable. It’s one of the things I love most about what I do: transforming the world around me into jewelry that tells a story.
-
For me, polymer clay jewelry has always been more than just a craft—it’s a way of expressing the soul. Each piece I create holds a part of my heart, shaped by memories, emotions, and personal stories that I’m learning to tell through color, texture, and form. It’s my way of sharing something real and honest with the world, one pair of earrings at a time.
When I sit down to design, I’m not just thinking about aesthetics—I’m thinking about how the piece might make someone feel. I want my jewelry to make a bold statement, to spark conversation, and most of all, to empower the person wearing it. I hope it helps them feel more confident, more seen, and more connected to who they truly are.
Art should be for everyone—not just to admire, but to wear, to live in, and to feel inspired by. That’s why I’m committed to creating pieces that are both elegant and affordable, accessible to anyone who wants to carry a little beauty and self-expression with them.
At the heart of it all, I believe jewelry can be a powerful reminder of our individuality—and a way to celebrate it, every day.
